Plain wind power projects are mainly concentrated in plain areas such as Shandong, Henan, Jiangsu and Anhui in China where the general wind speed is relatively low with characteristics of big wind shear in projects. The increase of hub height may have obvious effect on improvement of energy output. They mainly make use of local farm lands, water conservancy lands near riverways and lakes for construction. Their construction periods are relatively short and mainly for local consumption.
MOREDue to the influence of power rationing in the Three-north Area, the development and construction of mountain wind power projects in China are mainly concentrated in Hunan, Hubei, Yunnan, Sichuan, Guangxi, Guizhou and other provinces. Compared with those in northern China, the mountain projects in southern China show such characteristics as more dense population and vegetation, more complex terrain, lower average wind speed and more severe geological conditions, and therefore, their construction involves far greater difficulty than plain projects.
